ViaBTC Supports Bitcoin Education at the Catholic University of Córdoba

On September 29, ViaBTC supported a Bitcoin education event at the Catholic University of Córdoba (UCC) in Argentina, continuing its collaboration with the nonprofit ONG Bitcoin Argentina. The session brought students and faculty together for introductory lessons, practical exercises and open discussion about Bitcoin and blockchain technology.

The event was part of Bitcoin in Universities (Bitcoin en las Universidades), a program offering free courses to university communities across Argentina. Following earlier sessions in Buenos Aires, the program’s visit to Córdoba brought this learning opportunity to another university community.

Bringing Bitcoin into the Classroom

Instructors Federico Andragnes and Paula Martínez introduced Bitcoin and blockchain fundamentals alongside mining, cryptocurrency exchanges and decentralized finance. Digital asset security and fraud prevention were also covered, placing practical precautions alongside explanations of how the technology works.

Questions and exercises gave students room to work through unfamiliar concepts with the instructors. This combination matters: an introduction to Bitcoin should help newcomers understand its underlying mechanisms, recognize risks and ask informed questions as they explore further.

Connecting Mining Experience with Education

Mining is one part of that learning process. Understanding how computing power, nodes and network protocols work together gives students a clearer view of the infrastructure behind Bitcoin.

ViaBTC made support for the Argentine university program part of its tenth-anniversary activities, contributing mining and infrastructure content to earlier sessions. A decade of operating a cryptocurrency mining pool provides practical context for these subjects, drawing on experience in node deployment, protocol integration, block propagation and ongoing maintenance.

Local educators bring an equally important perspective: how to make those technical subjects approachable for students. The collaboration connects industry experience with teaching that responds to learners’ questions and needs.

Supporting Education Through Local Partnerships

According to ONG Bitcoin Argentina, previous editions of Bitcoin in Universities reached more than 1,300 students, faculty members and university staff at 20 universities across seven Argentine provinces. Supporting this established program offers a practical way to bring industry knowledge into more university classrooms.

Latin America has long been an important region for ViaBTC. Alongside serving its mining community, sustained support for local education creates opportunities to engage with people who are just beginning to explore Bitcoin. Free courses lower the barrier to getting started, while successive university sessions bring that opportunity to different communities.

That is why we support this work beyond a single event: students need accessible places to learn, question and develop their own understanding of the technology.

Coming in October: UADE and UB

With the Córdoba event completed, the current round of university sessions is entering its final stage. The next stops are the Argentine University of Enterprise (UADE) and the University of Belgrano (UB), with both events scheduled for October.
